Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how GPSArea ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the GPSArea - GPS Field Land Measure mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Location Data

The App uses your device's GPS to perform area and distance measurements, display your position on the map, and provide compass functionality. Location data is:

  • Used only while the App is in the foreground and you are actively measuring
  • Never collected in the background
  • Stored locally on your device as part of saved measurements
  • Never transmitted to our servers

1.2 Camera Access

The App may request camera access for the AR (augmented reality) compass feature. Camera data is:

  • Used only for the live AR compass overlay
  • Never recorded, stored, or transmitted
  • Processed entirely on your device in real time

1.3 Locally Stored Data

The App stores the following data locally on your device using on-device storage (MMKV):

  • Saved measurements — area and distance measurements with optional names, notes, and photos
  • App preferences — selected language, theme, measurement units, and map type
  • Groups — measurement organization categories you create
  • Subscription status — whether you have an active premium subscription

This data is stored entirely on your device and is never uploaded to any server. We do not have access to your measurements or personal data.

1.4 No User Accounts

The App does not require or offer user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).

2. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

3. Advertising & Ad Tracking

The free version of the App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Premium subscribers do not see any ads.

3.1 Ad Personalization

  • iOS: The App requests your consent through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before any ad tracking occurs. You can change this permission at any time in your device settings.
  • Android: Ad personalization follows your device's advertising settings.

3.2 GDPR Consent (EEA/UK)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent for ad personalization in compliance with GDPR. You can update your consent choices at any time.

4. Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used and improve the user experience. Analytics data is:

  • Fully anonymous — no personally identifiable information is collected
  • Aggregated and used only for product improvement
  • Limited to events like screen views, feature usage, and purchase funnel metrics

We set the following anonymous user properties for segmentation: app language, premium status, app open count, and total measurements saved. None of these identify you personally.

5. In-App Purchases

Premium subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address.

6. Data Storage & Security

  • All measurement data and preferences are stored locally on your device
  • We do not operate servers that store your personal data
  • There is no cloud sync, backup, or remote storage of your measurements
  • Data security depends on your device's own security measures (passcode, biometrics, encryption)

7. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

  • You can delete individual measurements within the App at any time
  • You can delete all App data by uninstalling the App
  • No data remains on any server after deletion since we do not store your data remotely

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
